Flight Cancellations Announced

IndiGo Airlines has declared the cancellation of its flight services from six different locations on Tuesday, May 13. This decision comes in response to recent events, prioritizing the safety of passengers. Reports indicated that red streaks were visible and explosions were audible as India's air defense intercepted drones from Pakistan during a blackout in Samba on Monday. Military sources confirmed that a limited number of drones had entered the Samba area and were being addressed.


Affected Locations

The following locations are impacted by the cancellations: Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot.


IndiGo's Advisory Statement

In a message shared on X, IndiGo stated, "Due to the latest developments and with your safety as our top priority, flights to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot are cancelled for May 13, 2025. We recognize that this may disrupt your travel plans and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Our teams are closely monitoring the situation and will keep you updated. Please verify your flight status on our website or app before heading to the airport. If you require assistance, we are just a message or call away and ready to help."


Previous Operations Announcement

This announcement follows IndiGo's earlier communication regarding the gradual resumption of operations. The airline mentioned, "In accordance with the latest government directives, airports are open for operations. We will gradually resume services on previously closed routes."


Airports Authority of India Update

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) had previously announced the reopening of 32 airports in northern and western India for civil flight operations on Monday. Initially, these airports were set to remain closed until May 15.


In a press release, the AAI noted, "Attention Flyers: reference notice issued for temporary closure of 32 Airports for civil Aircraft operations till 05:29 hrs of 15 May 2025. It is informed that these Airports are now available for civil Aircraft operations with immediate effect. It is recommended for travellers to check flight status directly with Airlines and monitor Airline's websites for regular updates."
